Club Thanks JCPenney for their generosity

JCPenney After School Fund supporting Club program opportunities and families

In The Spotlight

The members of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua participated in a thank you event to create thank you cards and posters in response to the generosity of the JCPenney After School Fund. Recent studies show that 14.3 million children in the U.S. are unsupervised between the hours and 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. each day. This grant allows these registered members, who could otherwise be at risk for destructive behavior, access to safe, enriching, and educational after school programs. Funds from the grants cover the expense of attending a Club, including staff supervision by full-time, trained youth development professionals; exposure to tried and proven programs; access to community service initiatives; transportation; snacks; and time spent in a safe, “up-to-code”, youth-centric building. Additionally, each mini-grant recipient will receive a $50 JCPenney gift card, courtesy of J.C. Penney Company, Inc., to help with the purchase of clothing and supplies for the upcoming year. JCPenney has agreed to support 144 members of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua throughout 2008.

Members and their families created thank you cards, and also put together information so that JCPenney can see how their grants are positively impacting so many families in the greater Nashua area.
